What can a program manager learn from a designer?

In recent weeks, I have caught myself more and more often playing with those air bubbles. My hands discovered that they especially liked to merge bubbles. It sometimes takes a while to find out from which side this works best, but then suddenly ‘hop’, 2 bells have become one bigger bell.I also had the same feeling when I started designing at IJsfontein as an anthropologist.

IJsfontein is a design agency that uses playful learning to search for creative and innovative solutions to social and cultural issues. Consider, for example, the development of an app that stimulates the discussion of depression among young people or an intervention with which we make residents aware of their behavior so that they use energy more efficiently. As an anthropologist researcher, it was my task to work with designers to arrive at new insights and from there to a workable product. It soon became clear to me that there is one very important similarity between a designer and an anthropologist.
